Youth Leaders
As a for-youth, by-youth program dedicated to empowering Colorado’s young people to take charge of their sexual health, our youth leadership team serves as our executive board. These engaged, open-minded, and passionate high school and college students are committed to ensuring their peers have access to comprehensive and medically accurate resources so they can make informed decisions about their sexual health. Their involvement is crucial in shaping services that truly meet the needs and desires of Colorado’s youth and young adults.

Sakthi Asokan
Sakthi (she/her) is a current M.D. candidate at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She joined the team in 2021 as a college student. After experiencing an abstinence based high school sex ed, Sakthi felt that young people weren’t provided the education they deserve to stay safe and make decisions about their bodies. She joined Be You Colorado to not only learn about HIV prevention and sexual health for herself, but to be able to take that knowledge to her peers and her community so they can stay safe and make informed decisions about their bodies. She encourages people to feel comfortable taking charge of their sexual health as it is an essential part of their overall health.

Millia Preap
Millia (she/her) is a current biochemistry undergraduate at the University of Colorado Denver. She joined the team to deepen her understanding of how to provide accurate, inclusive, and engaging sexual education to her peers. Millia is passionate about ensuring that her peers have access to factual, evidence-based information while fostering open, non-judgmental conversations that promote understanding and empowerment. Millia aims to not only break down stigmas surrounding sexual health but also to create a safe space where individuals feel comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance.

Jacob Dueñas
Jacob (he/him) is a current M.D. candidate at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He joined the team to help with prevention education and testing services in the Denver Metro Area, partnering with non-profits, community organization, and local universities and colleges. His efforts with Be You Colorado align perfectly with his interests in community outreach and desire to make medical education more accessible and stigma-free. Jacob aims to provide inclusive and comprehensive sexual health information and is particularly interested in working with the LGBTQ+ community and vulnerable populations.
